Job Description / Responsibility:

  • The Accountant will work under supervision of Senior Manager, Finance & Admin (Sr. MFA) to maintain day to day financial matter.
  • Specific Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • review and check time sheets of employees and consultants and process payment;
  • review staff travel advance requests, receive settlements, check travel expenses and make appropriate adjustments when bills submitted;
  • maintain records of staff advances and reconcile with bills when submitted;
  • check bills & vouchers submitted by the sub-awardees, vendors and contractors, review conformity with the contractual provisions and do the needful for their payment processing;
  • identify deviations, if any, and point them out to the sub-awardees for remedy/correction;
  • assist in the preparation of project budget, budget modifications, variances etc.;
  • ensure accurate posting of all accounting data in the designated software and perform all other required entries and reporting activities;
  • maintain records of staff advances and reconcile with bills when submitted;
  • check bills & vouchers submitted by the WEA fields make appropriate adjustments when bills submitted;
  • English translate the submitted bills and receipts as per WI HO requirements.
  • Organize the photocopy & check vouchers & bills of monthly project invoices for submission to the WI HQ;
  • Organize and maintain all records and files in accordance with general audit standards (GAAP) and USAID requirements.
  • work closely with other team members perform day to day banking requirements;
  • assist Sr. MFA in preparation of WEA community match reporting and keep track of community match and prepare match reports for the project management;
  • assists in the preparation of USAID periodic reports including annual tax, monthly VAT
  • prepare employees release forms, get approvals, process final payments, have them signed and place for record;
  • assist the Sr. MFA and the WI team in sub-awards and project closeout related matters;
  • Other duties as assigned by authority.

 

Job Nature: Full-time

 

Educational Requirements:

  • Master or Bachelor Degree in Commerce or any relevant discipline.

 

Experience Requirements: At least 5 year(s)

 

Additional Job Requirements:

  • Minimum five years of professional experience in development sector program (local and international NGOs)
  • Interest in and enthusiasm for learning & not afraid of working hard to complete task;
  • Knowledge and understanding of Bangladeshi accounting and audit rules and requirements.
  • Fluency in Bangla required;
  • Basic English required;
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Excel and Word; and
  • Preferred: knowledge of Winrock and USAID regulations and requirements.

 

Job Location: Dhaka

 

Salary Range: Negotiable
