ACDI/VOCA is currently seeking a Market Systems Analyst for the USAID-funded Feed the Future Bangladesh Rice and Diversified Crops Activity (RDC). The activity will be a five-year primary mechanism to support productivity and market systems development under USAID/Bangladesh’s FTF strategy, with the objective of improved food security through systemic changes that increase rural incomes and – via increased incomes, including women’s income, and incentivized crop diversification – to improved nutrition. USAID/Bangladesh’s new RDC activity will foster growth and reduce poverty through improving the competitiveness, inclusiveness, and resilience of rice and other selected crops in the FTF Zone of Influence (ZOI) to the benefit of large numbers of men and women and their families in rural households, farms, and market systems.



  • Designs and implements market facilitation strategies and interventions that impact the competitiveness, inclusiveness, and resilience of rice/other selected crops.
  • Supports facilitation teams dedicated to specific value chains and/or market system interventions to promote increased competitiveness of market actors as well as improved and expanded products, services, and market access for small-scale producers.
  • Facilitates the development and expansion of relationships among buyers, input suppliers, producers, and other market actors involved in rice and diversified crops that are grown in rotation with rice.
  • Monitors and provides feedback on market system trends, facilitation activities, and private and public sector actor interventions that promote inclusive market systems development.
  • Coordinates closely with other market system teams and cross-cutting team leaders (gender, climate change, and nutrition) to ensure market system strategies and interventions are well integrated.
  • Identifies relevant market actors, assesses end markets, develops value chain maps, identifies constraints, market-based solutions, and incentives to integrate small-scale producers into their supply chains and commercial distribution networks.
  • Supports the design and implementation of inclusive market systems interventions that contribute to overall target value chain and cross-cutting (gender, climate change, and nutrition) strategies.
  • Continually develop and review impact causal models/results chains to demonstrate how interventions will contribute to sustainable poverty reduction in targeted districts.
  • Supports cross-company learning initiatives (exposure visits, training activities, etc.) that would benefit firms and stakeholders with similar interests and needs.
  • Contribute to and comply with the activities’ performance monitoring and evaluation frameworks.



  • Bachelor’s degree required in economics, agribusiness, agro-economics or other relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in agricultural market systems development including working in the private sector or supporting private enterprise. Proven experience in program design and management positions, or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior work experience in Dhaka based office preferred
  • Solid understanding or familiarity of how agribusiness enterprises work in Bangladesh
  • Demonstrated understanding of market systems frameworks and dynamics and market facilitation tactics and approaches.
  • Proven ability to work with and motivate private- and public-sector actors.
  • Strong written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to write required documents in a clear, concise, well-organized manner.
  • Strong analytical skills, including ability to gather and analyze a variety of information pertaining to issues and to develop appropriate recommendations for action.
  • Advanced computer skills in a Windows based environment including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with donors, project stakeholders, in-country collaborators and staff at all levels of the organization.
  • Awareness, sensitivity, and understanding of cross-cultural issues particularly in representing a US-based agency.
  • Proven ability to prepare and conduct formal presentations, and to organize conferences, seminars, workshops, trainings, and study tours.
  • Willingness to travel 40% of the time
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
